It's funny but no matter where I meet a follow Greek, I always get that question...
What part are you from?
The way I see it Greece is divided into three areas.
1. Athens
2. The islands
3. Everything else in between
About me: My dad comes from an island called Andros
My mom comes from Athens
Where are you or your family from???

Thu, March 23, 2006 - 1:38 PMYup, that's a pretty standard question amongst Greeks. A few times I had people ask me where I was from, and I responded, "New York," which I quickly learned was the wrong answer :)
My father's side is from Crete and Lemnos. My mother's side is from Smyrna. -

I know!!!! Somehow, "I'm from California" doesn't quote tell them what they want to know...LOL My mom's side is from Smyrna and Korfu. My dad's family is Irish.
